"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." -2 Corinthians 4:7-9
Gazing down at the land from thirty-five thousand feet in an airplane, everything looks doll-house size or smaller. Trees that would dwarf you if you stood close by look as if they could fit in the palm of your hand. Highways with semi-trucks speeding at 70 mph look smaller than matchbox cars. Rivers seem like ribbons.
Life. It's really all about perspective, and so it is with life's problems. On this side of heaven, we feel dwarfed and discouraged by hurdles that seem insurmountable - like COVID-19 and its aftermath. We feel walled in and helpless. But from God's perspective, problems look like opportunities for us to trust Him. He waits for us to lift the concerns that look large to us and place them into His infinitely larger hands. When we do this, our big problems become bearable. We know that with God on our side, the problems can be overcome. Ask your heavenly Burden-bearer for His perspective today. Your problems are an opportunity to draw closer to Him.
Heavenly Father, please draw us closer to You. Grant us renewed energy for tasks this week that can come only from you. Help us to regain perspective, knowing that in YOU, we have forgiveness and life - life to live in You here on earth and in our communities, and life to live eternally with you some day in heaven. In Jesus' name. Amen.
