The PSD is working to compile a library of easily accessible and customizable Social Emotional Learning resources. This grant funded project offers free resources intended for Lutheran school teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff. The curriculum provided can be used in a small group or whole classroom setting. The following lessons are currently available:
Anxiety: what is anxiety, types of anxiety, feeling anxious vs. having anxiety, increase of prevalence, social media impact, mindfulness and grounding techniques, asking for support, identifying triggers, coping strategies and skills
Social Skills & Confidence: skill building, self-esteem and self-efficacy, conflict resolution, boundary setting, naming and taming emotions, growth mindset, goal selection (SMART goals), self-management (time, resources)
Executive Functioning: Organization skills, Time Management, Goal Setting, Self-discipline/motivation, the power of being proactive, planning, studying skills, test taking skills, note taking skills
These topics are available in age-appropriate materials for Kindergarten-2nd grade, 3rd - 5th grade, and 6th - 8th grade. The 6th-8th grade materials may also be appropriate for high school students. To access the materials, please contact Eun Chu Kim. Additional support can be offered in the form of school visits or consultation by Courtney Burns, a licensed mental health provider.
