The Most...time of Year

It is Advent. Christmas is coming soon. The increase of “hustle” and “busy” that we usually find ourselves in during this season is familiar. As Christians, we know that during advent, the busy is paired with the simple, calm, and more quiet celebration of the humble birth of Jesus, who came peacefully into this world with little fanfare.

Often, it is said that Christmas is “the most” time of the year. Yes, it can be “the most wonderful time of the year,” as the popular song states, but it can also be the most difficult, the most chaotic, or the most heartbreaking time of year. Whatever season we find ourselves in, Christmas tends to accentuate it to be “the most.”

Whatever “most” you, your staff, or your family are feeling right now, may the most important part of Christ’s birth rise to the surface. God came to be with us in the flesh. He is Immanuel. His love for us led to the most humbling act the Creator of the universe could possibly undertake. God came to be among us and in our presence. He lived with us, died for us, and rose again so that He can continue His presence with us through eternity. There is peace in recognizing that God’s presence threads that far. In the most busy, most chaotic, most joyful, and most celebratory moments, may that peace that surpasses all understanding from our Prince of Peace be the gift we can lean on the most.
