I am trying to find out what specific early childhool admin class needs to be taken to qualify as a director as per licensing. Orange Coast College has a class CDE A276 that I think is the correct class but want to make sure before I recommend it to a staff member. I'm sure other community colleges in Orange County have similar classes but I am mostly going by class description as I'm sure they are similar from school to school even if the class numbers are different..
Thanks for your help! Jennifer Burnett Salem, Orange
Hi Jennifer! When our previous director quit without notice, we had to move fast and have someone in progress on an Admin class so that licensing could see we were working to fix the problem. Lynne Rose guided us and while the classes were "full," either Lynne helped by making a phone call for us to the department chair (who she was acquainted with), or she told us to name drop to get in those classes asap. Cindy and I both took the two classes offered at Saddleback College. They were 8 weeks each and completely online. Ordered text books online too. Never stepped foot on campus. The class were: CDE128 Administration I - Programs in early Childhood Education and CDE 129 Administration II - Personnel & Leadership Early Childhood Ed.
This is the community college matrix to help determine classes at every California Community College. Hope you enjoy the class!
